What if you could modify your Swiss Army knife with modules of your choice? That's what Las-Vegas-based EDC company Keyport is enabling with their Versa58 system.

It's named for the keychain-sized Swiss Army Knives that are 58mm in length. Once you pop the knife's press-fit handle sides—called scales—off, you attach an interface plate, and then the Versa58 modules can be magnetically attached to that.

Thus far they offer an LED flashlight, a slide-out ballpoint pen and a USB-C flash drive. They also offer their own aluminum scales, with or without a pocket clip.

Alberto Meda and his son Francisco, both of them Italian industrial designers, designed these pendant lamps made out of volcanic stone. Lava offcuts from stone processing company Ranieri were ground up and mixed with a binder, and the Medas were able to press the resultant composite into molds.

"Unlike marble, lava is not quarried," Francesco Meda explans. "It is gathered directly from the mountain.

After an eruption the magma settles, becoming part of the terrain and forming blocks of lavic stone that can be crafted. The cutting process generates a large quantity of surplus chips, which we wanted to salvage.

At large companies, new hires get swag bags at their onboarding. Companies like Amazon, Google and Meta hand out company-branded pens, notebooks, mugs, T-shirts and the like.

HD Hyundai (not the carmaker per se, but the larger parent company) wanted to go further. They hired industrial design firm STUDIO OKGO to design a standout welcome kit.

And no paper bags or cardboard boxes here: The HD Hyundai welcome kit comes in a steel vessel. "STUDIO OKGO designed and developed a welcome kit for new employees across all affiliates of HD Hyundai.

I've just stumbled across the spiritual successor to the Eameses' Hang-It-All Coat Rack. This Dot Hanger is by South Korean industrial designer ByongKyu Song, a/k/a BKID.

It can be mounted horizontally or vertically. The user selects the position of the components and locks them in place (I assume) with a spring-loaded pin.

Intriguingly, it was inspired not by the Eames design, but by drawing notes on sheet music. "We wanted to allow users to freely adjust the beats of different notes," Song writes.

This wild-looking Infinity Mouse is by Chinese peripherals manufacturer Angry Miao . The body is an exoskeleton made of a magnesium-aluminum alloy, and the negative space isn't arbitrary; the company says they identified the hand contact zones, and removed any unnecessary material.

The round thing you see with the Karim-Rashid-like 'plus' symbol is the receiver. It also comes with two hot-swappable batteries.

Fun fact: The design of the Infinity Mouse was inspired by transportation designer Maitreya Dhanak's Lotus Evanora concept. (Dhanak, a designer for Mercedes-Benz, isn't affiliated with Lotus; the Evanora was an independent project he did prior to being hired by the German company.) The gamer-targeted mouse runs $140.

De Minimum European Health Module (MEHM) is een korte vragenlijst module die ontwikkeld is voor het gebruik in persoonsenquêtes over sociale onderwerpen. De module meet drie verschillende aspecten van gezondheid: ervaren gezondheid, chronische morbiditeit en beperkingen.

De MEHM is zowel in EU-SILC als in de jaarlijkse gezondheidsenquête opgenomen in de periode 2014 tot en met 2024. In dit onderzoek worden de resultaten van de drie variabelen uit de MEHM vergeleken tussen beide onderzoeken.

Ook zal worden onderzocht waarom uitkomsten tussen beide onderzoeken mogelijk afwijken. De trends in MEHM tussen 2014 tot en met 2024 zullen worden vergeleken tussen beide onderzoeken en voor 2024 zullen ook de verschillen naar achtergrondkenmerken (geslacht, leeftijd, onderwijsniveau en gestandaard huishoudinkomen) worden beschreven.

Daarnaast wordt ook inzichtelijk gemaakt welke rol migratiemotief en verblijfsduur spelen bij sociaaleconomische verschillen tussen migranten van Buiten-Europese herkomst. De populatie betreft alle personen die op 1 januari 2024 staan ingeschreven bij een Nederlandse gemeente.

In de rapportage wordt onderscheid gemaakt tussen mensen met een herkomst buiten Nederland die in Nederland zijn geboren (tweede generatie) of in het buitenland zijn geboren (migranten). Bekostigd door het Ministerie van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid.
