Damstredet & Telthusbakken in Oslo, Norway

Ad 728×90
Tucked away in Oslo’s city center, the streets of Damstredet and Telthusbakken offer a (manicured) glimpse of everyday city life of the past. Lined with well-preserved wooden houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, the neighborhood offers a small village feel in a modern capital.

Each street stretches only a few hundred meters, but both are well worth a detour. Damstredet is a narrow, crooked, cobblestone lane running between Akersveien and Fredensborgveien.

Its protected small wooden houses are still used as private residences, making the streets atmosphere feel lived-in rather than staged. A short walk to the north lies Telthusbakken, set between Akersveien and Maridalsveien.
